Barcelona news: Lionel Messi has signed contract… but one thing is missing - Bartomeu

BARCELONA president Josep Maria Bartomeu claims the only thing missing from Lionel Messi’s contract extension is an official photo.

Barcelona announced earlier in the summer that Messi had agreed terms on a four-year deal that would keep him at the Nou Camp until 2021.
But the club have yet to make an official announcement despite constant reassurances from Barcelona representatives that a deal was in place.
The lack of an announcement led to speculation surrounding Messi’s future and whether he was having second thoughts about committing to the La Liga giants.
Rumours in the Spanish press linked the 30-year-old with a move to Premier League big spenders Manchester City.
Neymar’s summer departure to Paris Saint-Germain left a big hole in Barcelona’s attacking trident and his replacement, Ousmane Dembele, has recently been ruled out for up to four months.
It has left a dark cloud looming over Barcelona, despite their strong start to the new season - they are the only La Liga side with a 100% record.
But Bartomeu has attempted to offer Barcelona fans some good news by stating Messi’s future is all tied up.
"The contract is audited and included in the accounts of the previous year,” Bartomeu said.
“He has the signature of his father, by powers, and also of the director of his Foundation. “Only photography is lacking, which will be done when possible. Let's be quiet.”
