Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been told that he should quit La Liga for a new challenge elsewhere.
Dortmund star Ousmane Dembele is set to complete his big-money switch to the Nou Camp, while Barca are still trying to land Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool as they look for fresh blood to inject into an ageing side.
Messi himself agreed a new four-year contract last month but has still to sign the deal, and top agent Mino Raiola believes that the 30-year-old should follow Neymar’s lead and test himself in a different league.
“A player like Messi must try another experience with a different club and prove how great he is,” Raiola said in the Daily Express.
”Barcelona must be reinvented again.”
Raiola, who has had a major influence on the careers of Manchester United trio Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku in the past year, also believes that transfer fees similar to Neymar’s £198m switch will start to become the norm.
“The market, as such, no longer exists,” he added.
“Now it is countries who are signing players and that isn’t football.
“But transfers of 200 million euros are going to be normal from now on, it won’t be crazy to see that.”
